The history tells us that there was a ferry place in Oliveira where the boatman crossed the Mondego river, making the connection between Viseu and Bobadela. The route, as many historians say, went on the actual territory of the Carregal do Sal county. And there were rocks, some of them stave-shaped, to ensure that this was the old ground where a holy river (Ribeiro Santo) is. It had been once a nobility farm and then it was bought by a priest.
